1st International Symposium on Men andMasculinities

On 11–13 September 2014 at Tepekule Convention and Exhibition Centre in İzmir, Turkey, the 1st International Conference on Men and Masculinities was organized by Initiative for Critical Studies of Masculinities (ICSM) in collaboration with Center for the Study of Men and Masculinities at Stony Brook University, Ankara University Women’s Studies Centre (KASAUM), Izmir University Women’s Studies Centre, Black Pink Triangle Izmir Association and Open Society Foundation. Social scientists who work for criticisms on men and masculinities, activists and NGOs were invited to the symposium. Three of the trailblazers of critical masculinity studies participated to the symposium as keynote speakers.
 
1st International Symposium on Men and Masculinities hosted presentations, workshops and forums, and brought 155 people (academics, researchers, graduate students and activists) from 26 countries together.
